ULM, Germany - Smiling soldiers, chatting partners and playing children framed the first JSEC Family Event this year. Almost a hundred soldiers and civilians with their relatives followed the invitation by Major General Detlev Simons, Chief of Staff of the Joint Support and Enabling Command in Ulm.
Being a family means spending a good time together
By transitioning to NATO Command Structure, the Joint Support and Enabling Command each day is becoming more and more international. Soon, there will be even more soldiers and civilians from our 32 NATO nations present at the Wilhelmsburg Barracks in Ulm. One of the efforts to integrate these new families into our young command and to connect them with each other is the Spouses Club. Initiated by JSEC's Chief of Staff, Major General Detlev Simons, and Director Management, Colonel Eberhard Deppisch, this new institution was founded right at the first JSEC Family Event in the beginning of this year.

At the Europe Hall in the Wilhelmsburg Barracks there were many opportunities for the children to play and have fun.
"As of January 1st, you became part of our new JSEC-Family", Major General Simons addressed the well filled Europe Hall in the Wilhelmsburg Barracks: "Being a family means spending a good time together." And that's what the soldiers, partners and childrens did. Unfamiliar people introduced themselves, talked, enjoyed delicious food together and played games. They made new acquaintances and became friends..
To foster this growing community, JSEC has implemented a Spouses Committee, which will support events like these in the future and bring in the needs of JSEC's community members to the Command Group.
