JSEC family delves into the world of movie-making

ULM, Germany - The recent trip to the Bavaria Film Studios in Munich was an unforgettable journey into the world of movie-making magic. The JSEC staff members and their families left the Studios with many impressive moments in their minds.

Following the invitation of JSEC's Family Support Office at JSEC, the multinational group made the journey from the Wilhelmsburg Barracks in Ulm to the south of Munich with high hopes of experiencing the glamour and excitement of a real working film studio. Upon arrival, they were greeted by an enthusiastic guide who led them on an exciting behind-the-scenes tour of the studio grounds. The tour began with a fascinating history of the 1919 founded Bavaria Film Studios. Over the years, it has hosted the filming of numerous international blockbusters, including Das Boot, The NeverEnding Story or Asterix & Obelix.

It felt like walking into another world. We were in a castle one minute, and then we were on a spaceship the next!

One of the highlights of the visit was the studio’s extensive collection of authentic film sets. The family wandered through elaborate reproductions of medieval castles, futuristic cityscapes, and ancient temples. “It felt like walking into another world,” a participant's child said. “We were in a castle one minute, and then we were on a spaceship the next!”

They are known for its family-friendly approach, offering visitors the chance to get hands-on with movie-making magic.

The tour also showcased the impressive special effects department, where the family learned how some of their favorite films achieve their jaw-dropping visuals. From green screen rooms to sophisticated model-making techniques, the children were amazed as they discovered the secrets behind creating realistic explosions and CGI landscapes.

JSEC family left the Bavaria Film Studios with many impressive moments in their minds.
