ULM, Germanyy - To foster camaraderie and strengthen connections among Senior National Representatives (SNRs) and their spouses/partners, JSEC organized a scenic 7 km hike on 2nd April 2025. The event, which took place under clear skies and pleasant temperatures, was expertly arranged by the French contingent. It provided a perfect combination of light exercise, fresh air, and engaging conversations—allowing participants to connect beyond their usual professional interactions.This is not a race, just have fun.

The hike started and ended at the Wilhelmsburg Barracks, leading more than 25 participants through picturesque trails. Along the way, attendees enjoyed meaningful discussions, reinforcing the cooperative spirit that defines JSEC. The relaxed setting encouraged new friendships and strengthened existing bonds, making the event a valuable opportunity for networking in an informal setting.
Before setting off, Chief of Staff JSEC, Major General Detlev Simons, welcomed all hikers with an inspiring message. He emphasized the importance of building the JSEC family, seeing new faces, engaging with one another, talking openly, and most importantly, having fun. This set a positive tone for the journey ahead. Following his words, Lieutenant Colonel Philippe Scarabin, provided a short briefing about the route. With a warm smile, he concluded by reminding everyone, "This is not a race, just have fun."
Upon returning to the Wilhelmsburg Barracks, the participants gathered at the Europe Hall, where JSEC’s Commander, Lieutenant General Kai Rohrschneider welcomed them for a well-deserved rest. Over coffee, fresh beverages, and a selection of sandwiches—including a refreshing red fruity drink—attendees had the opportunity to unwind and continue their conversations in a convivial atmosphere.
This successful initiative once again underscored the value of informal gatherings in strengthening professional and personal relationships within JSEC. A special thanks to the French contingent for their meticulous organization and commitment to making this event such a memorable experience.
