ULM, Germany – Lieutenant General Kai Rohrschneider of the German Army assumed command of Joint Support and Enabling Command (JSEC) and Multinational Joint Headquarters (MN JHQ) Ulm in a ceremony held at the Wilhelmsburg in Ulm, Germany on Thursday (10 October, 2024). General Rohrschneider succeeds Lieutenant General Alexander Sollfrank, who had been in post since 2022.
JSEC turned the Reinforcement and Sustainment Network from a concept to reality
General Christopher G. Cavoli, NATO’s Supreme Allied Commander Europe (SACEUR), handed over the command of JSEC and General Carsten Breuer, Chief of Defence Germany, handed over the command of MN JHQ Ulm from one officer to the next. Military members and civilians from NATO, 27 allied nations and various partners attended the ceremony.

Lieutenant General Kai Rohrschneider has taken over the Command of JSEC.
General Cavoli spoke about the importance of JSEC as a part of NATO’s success story. “JSEC turned the Reinforcement and Sustainment Network from a concept to reality”, General Cavoli stated.
In his farewell speech, outgoing Commander Lieutenant General Sollfrank reflected on his tenure at the Wilhelmsburg Barracks in Ulm. "It has been an honor to lead two multinational commands with such diverse missions. Each command makes a crucial contribution to maintain security and peace in Europe”, General Sollfrank said.
After the change of command ceremony, Lieutenant General Rohrschneider stated: “Assuming command of two distinguished headquarters is an honor that I take on with great enthusiasm and ambition.”
Lieutenant General Rohrschneider most recently served as Director-General for Forces Policy at the German Federal Ministry of Defence. He brings a wealth of international experience as he formerly acted as Chief of Staff at Headquarters U.S. Army Europe and Africa, in Wiesbaden, Chief of Staff at MN JHQ Ulm and Deputy Commander of JSEC.
