Medical Advisors and Planners of NATO entities discuss best practice of multinational collaboration

ULM, Germany – The ACO Medical Advisors and Planners Forum (MAPF) is the principal medical advisory body to inform NATO entities on all current and future military medical matters within our activities, operations and exercises. From February 25 to 27, the Joint Support and Enabling Command (JSEC) hosted more than 60 participants.

During this years’ MAPF, Reinforcement and Sustainment Network (RSN), Medical Logistics, Patient Flow Management (PFM), Host Nation Support (HNS) and the cooperation within the Allied Command Operations (ACO) were the key focus areas. The medical community discussed other topics of interest from their particular perspective as well. It served as platform for discussions, information exchange, best practice sharing and the development of common approaches towards the executability of plans.

SACEUR’s Medical Advisor and Assistant Chief of Staff Joint Medical Division of SHAPE, Brigadier General Dr. Lale Bartoschek, chaired the meeting and highlighted NATO’s joint and multinational efforts to provide adequate medical treatment: “Patient Flow Management and Medical Logistics are crucial for an enabled theatre in SACEUR’s area of responsibility.”

JSEC hosted this event for the third time – with a new record of participants: The 64 medical experts that came together this year, were three times more than at the last MAPF two years ago.
