Lieutenant General (ret)    Jan Broeks, Senior Mentor for the upcoming Exercise “Steadfast Defender 21”, visits JSec

Lieutenant General Jürgen Knappe, JSEC Commander, welcomed and informed him about current developments in the Headquarters and the preparation status of the upcoming exercise “Steadfast Defender 21” (STDE21).

“Currently we adapt our developed basic documents, structure and procedures,” said Knappe. “We will be prepared and ready for our certification exercise, where we will show evidence of our full operational readiness.”

In May 2019, Lieutenant General Broeks already had visited JSEC in his prior position as the Director General of the NATO International Military Staff. During STDE21, he will accompany JSEC through the NATO certification process as a Senior Mentor.

Headquarters Supreme Allied Commander Transformation (HQ SACT) established the NATO Senior Mentor Program in 2006, involving former senior Flag or General Officers recommended by their respective Chiefs of Defence to NATO. The program focuses on NATO’s military Transformation and it fully supports the Alliance’s Education, Training, Exercises and Evaluation requirements.
