Air Chief Marshal Sir Stuart Peach visits Joint Support and Enabling Command

The Chairman of the NATO Military Committee (CMC), Air Chief Marshal Stuart Peach, visited the Joint Support and Enabling Command (JSEC) in the Wilhelmsburg Barracks, Ulm, Germany. The Vice Chief of Defence of the German Ministry of Defence, Vice Admiral Joachim Rühle, accompanied the visit.

Lieutenant General Jürgen Knappe, Commander of the JSEC, welcomed and informed him about current developments of the new operational headquarters. Knappe underlined “JSEC’s main task is to take over the responsibility to provide NATO with a secure rear area for the purpose of strategic deployment movements in the Supreme Allied Commander Europe’s (SACEUR’s) Area of Responsibility.”

The JSEC staff presented its involvement in the conceptual work of SHAPE and the engagement in the exercise planning process to achieve full operational capability in September next year.

Sir Stuart William Peach is a senior Royal Air Force officer. As the CMC, he advises the North Atlantic Council on military policy and strategy and is the senior military spokesperson of the alliance.
