Just Three Words...

Dita e Pavarësisë is the Independence Day of Albania, commemorating the Albanian Declaration of Independence from the Ottoman Empire on 28 November 1912.

It is also called Dita e Flamurit or Festa e Flamurit, which is translated as Flag day. It refers to the rise of the Albanian flag in Vlorë, coinciding with an ancient date, when the similar flag was raised in Krujë, Albania, on 28 November 1443.

Almost every balcony throughout the country will be decorated with the Albanian flag, as a sign of pride and remembrance. If the public holiday falls on a Saturday or Sunday, as this year, it will be observed on the following Monday.

This day marks the 11th chapter of our series, this time Colonel Dritan Stroni takes us to Albania with just three words...
